FAQ

How much do your services cost?

My services are billed hourly, at $70/hour, and total cost is dependent on the length of the project.

Are your services covered under insurance?

Check if your insurance plan covers a Registered Social Worker (RSW) from the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

Are consultations free?

I offer a free in-home consultation to all my clients. This is a great way to introduce myself to my client and their home.

When is a good time to hire a professional organizer?

Anytime is a good time to hire a professional organizer. Professional organizers help by offering innovative solutions for eliminating clutter and preventing future disorganization, by addressing the issues causing disorganization and by creating systems that work for you and your family to stay organized.

How are you different from other professional organizers? Why should I work with you?

There are organizers suited to all clients’ needs and my colleagues are fantastic at what they do. What makes me unique from the rest is that I not only look for organizing solutions for your home, I look at what patterns, processes, and behaviours are blocking you from achieving and maintaining organization. I do not strive for a “Pinterest-perfect” looking home – this is impractical and unachievable. Striving for perfection sets us up for failure, and I want my clients to experience success in knowing that being organized is finding what is ideal for them and their family.

What does an organizing session look like?

I start with a consultation, where I make an assessment of your home or whatever space you are looking to work on. I then develop a plan with you and your family, if applicable, to address what is blocking you from enjoying your space.

Should I clean up before you come?

Absolutely not! I am not here to judge your home. Working with you and your home in its natural state is the best starting point for our work together. In order to assess and evaluate what systems are currently working or not working, I need to see your home as it is in day-to-day life.

How often do you come to my home and how often should we work together?

How often we work together is based on your individual need and choice.

What is the minimum length of appointments?

Appointments require a minimum of 3 hours.

Will you help with removing donations from my home?

I will remove items from your home and donate, consign, recycle, and ethically dispose of what I can.

Do you hold garage sales for your clients?

For those interested in having a garage sale, I can gladly help organize and coordinate a garage sale for my clients, but will not hold one on my client’s behalf.

Do packages include the cost of the organizing materials?

Not all of my clients require or want organizing materials so I have not included this in my fee. I try my best to help my clients use the materials they already have on hand, which can help minimize costs. If you are wanting additional organizing materials, like baskets and storage boxes, I can help by recommending the best items for your needs.

I think I may be a hoarder, can you help?

If you think you may be a hoarder, I can help. I have knowledge and experience working with hoarding, and have helped others identify what underlying issues are related to their hoarding behaviour. There are a number of standard rating scales designed to assess for Hoarding Disorder available. If you are interested in learning more about these tools, please feel free to contact me.

Are you insured?

Yes. As a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), I am obligated to have professional liability insurance to ensure the safety of the public and my clients.

Is our work together confidential?

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me. As a registered social worker and member of the Professional Organizers in Canada, I am professionally bound to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Code of Conduct and Ethics with Professional Organizers in Canada.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Although I acknowledge that events beyond our control may occur, I require 48 hours notice of any cancellations; otherwise the regular fee will be charged.
